Politeknik Brunei (PB) is one of the public higher education institutions in Brunei Darussalam, established by the consent of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in a Titah delivered during the Teacher’s Day celebration on 18th October 2008 to accelerate the country’s human resources development, emphasised by the National Development Plan (NDP) and Brunei Vision 2035. This technical education transformation was a timely response towards the evolution of the local and global economic landscape, which directly affected the current and future skills of workforce requirements of the nation.
PB opened its doors and started its operations in January 2012 introducing nine 2-year Advanced Diploma programmes in various fields of Business, ICT and Science and Engineering. Three years later, in July 2015, PB began offering 3-year Level 5 Diploma programmes. The Level 5 Diploma qualification is equivalent to the Higher National Diploma (HND) and accredited by Brunei Darussalam National Accreditation Council (BDNAC), Ministry of Education.
PB’s Vision, Generating Innovative and Future Ready Graduates and its Mission, to Deliver Industry Driven Quality Education and Training brought a fresh perspective to the advancement of knowledge that PB provided. Under its single core value: Taffawuq (Excellence), PB institutionalised excellence in the delivery of its services that allowed it to advance in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 (I.R 4.0). With the renewal of both its Vision and Mission, PB’s new Tagline- fitting to its name- is Proud Bruneian.
Since then, with the cooperation from local and international industries and agencies, PB offers Diploma programmes under five Schools – the School of Business, the School of Information and Communication Technology, the School of Science and Engineering, the School of Health Sciences and the School of Petrochemical; are currently offered under PB. The programmes offered are carefully developed with active advice and guidance from relevant stakeholders, industry players and experts through External Review Committee.
